Integration with AWS Services: AWS Batch seamlessly integrates with other AWS services, such as Amazon S3, AWS Lambda, and Amazon DynamoDB. Jobs can be artefacts such as Docker container images, shell scripts or regular Linux executables. This ensures that critical tasks are prioritized and executed in the most effective manner.
AWS Nitro has also enabled other powerful AWS services including AWS Outposts (AWS Infrastructure and service brought to your data center) and FireCracker (Virtualization Technology and OpenSource Project for Running lightweight Multi-Tenant Container Workloads). A CloudFormation stack to create an Amazon Lex bot and an AWS Lambda fulfillment function, which implement the core Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) question answering capability. Everything you need is also provided as opensource in our GitHub repo. In particular, review the Lambda function code.
That means there’s no clear way to flag that a Lambda should switch from one environment to another, along with all of its attached resources. You can give your Lambda an environment variable to have it change context, but that same environment variable won’t propagate to the API gateways, databases, and other components of your stack.
Linux, it seems, is the shibboleth of the true nerd. Like robotics or home brewing, Linux has become a symbol of nerdy acumen, without actually entailing any of the skills you need to be a web developer. But does that obligate us, the humble full-stack engineers, to learn Linux? What should you learn instead of Linux?
