Accuracy concerns slow manufacturers’ Gen AI adoption

Manufacturers are implementing generative AI initiatives slower than anticipated due to accuracy concerns, according to a report from Lucidworks. The study surveyed over 2,500 global AI decision-makers and found that 58% of manufacturing leaders plan to increase AI spending in 2024, down from 93% in 2023. Additionally, 44% of manufacturers have concerns about response accuracy, while only 3% are worried about job displacement.

AMD buys Silo AI to counter Nvidia

AMD turned its AI acquisition dial another notch this week, announcing a deal to buy Europe’s largest private AI lab, Finland’s Silo AI, for $665 million in cash. Last August it bought French AI inference startup Mipsology, with tiny open-source AI compiler outfit Nod.ai following in October.
