As the organizers of the GSAS 2023 , we take pride in continuously monitoring new releases of software architecture books to extend invitations to their authors for our event. What’s even more exciting is that some of these authors will be generously raffling off copies of their software architecture books to our attendees!
On October 3-4 we organized and hosted the Global Software Architecture Summit in Barcelona. This year the event was focused on Software Architecture Metrics as they are key to the maintainability and architectural quality of a software project. Attendees Profiles.
The web gave birth to the three-tier architecture. Eventually, there was SOA, and CORBA reared its head like a dyslexic snake. And now we have the so-called fad that is Microservice Architecture. The New Era The promised benefits of efficiency and interoperability from SOA/CORBA are still very much desired.
These are valid questions which recently we get asked a lot, especially in the context of microservices , modern SOA initiatives or domain-driven design. In this blog post I will look at possible architectures using them. Advantages: Autonomy : Every team that builds a service can decide on the best solution themselves.
I am fortunate enough to spend a lot of time looking at various online products and services in the development stage, mostly of the Web 2.0 or otherwise, comes from two things: Its software architecture and its product design. What then is software architecture and product design when it comes to today's Web applications?
Oracle’s WebLogic Server plays a vital role in developing and deploying enterprise Java web applications, improving their availability, scalability, and security. integrated with SOA applications. Overall, it has kept the SOA database size in control. Shrinking LOB Data for SOA. Common Issues with WebLogic Server.
It was just another reminder of overall aviation IT fragility, caused by different factors, from aging technologies to poor communication between different components to the introduction of immature solutions. In the SOA scenario, software components communicate with each other via Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) using messaging protocols.
Traditionally, there’s been a structure in particular that was widely used: monolithic architecture. We’ll talk more on that later, but the important part is that that style of architecture is not longer viable enough to keep using. Agile and DevOps are other methods of software development. Microservices vs. SOA.
This isn’t to say that the existing process was bad, but like anything worthwhile it needed to evolve. Since 2018 we’ve made subtle but important changes to our architecture, and to how we approach deployments. This gave us a more dynamic architecture which could be scaled to customer needs much faster than a traditional datacenter.

Global Software Architecture Summit is taking place in CCIB , Barcelona this year! One of the largest and most important software architecture events with practical talks and hands-on workshops. Global Software Architecture Summit leads to inspiration and helps to become a better software architect. About the venue. GSAS values.
I am fortunate enough to spend a lot of time looking at various online products and services in the development stage, mostly of the Web 2.0 If there’s one thing that the Web has taught us it’s that the network gets smarter by virtue of people using it and product development is no exception. set of practices.
Architectural Coupling and Cohesion I’m sure you’ve heard it all before?—?maybe after all, this ability to rapidly and safely evolve our applications was core to the acceptance of the microservice architectural style as the current “best practice” style of building many ( but not all ) modern software systems.
They have an interesting value proposition, which is getting software to market fast while developing with multiple software developmentteams. So, microservices are about scaling your development force while maintaining high agility and a rapid development pace. and poor customer experience.
I love the piece that Dan North wrote long ago in his post “Classic SOA” , explaining service concepts in the non-digital world. In IT we try to mimic such structures and came up with terms like Modules, SOA and Microservices. Owned by one team. Decentralized governance. Independent Data-Storage. Criteria Catalogue.
Over time, costs for S3 and GCS became reasonable and with Egnyte’s storage plugin architecture, our customers can now bring in any storage backend of their choice. In general, Egnyte connect architecture shards and caches data at different levels based on: Amount of data. SOAarchitecture based on REST APIs.
