One of the more intriguing ones I’ve stumbled upon is Moemate , an assistant that runs on most any macOS, Windows and Linux machine. It can bring your chat window into focus and show the number of subscribers to your channel. Startups, too, are beginning to realize their own versions of more helpful, useful AI assistants.

Those methods should behave more-or-less the same on both Windows and Linux, so checking the IP address should be a simple and short function. We set os_type = 'windows' , then check the platform. The entire 'windows' branch of the if isn't needed. What if we want to check the IP on Linux?

Now, normally, we do this from Python programs on Linux. After a quick test of doing multitouch interactions, we also decided that we shouldn't deploy to Linux (Unity didn't really have good Linux multitouch support), so we would deploy a Windows kiosk. We don't care - but Windows does. Months go by.
