If you find all the noise around social media to be confusing, rest assured that you’re not alone. In today’s post I’m going to explore responsibility as it relates to social media – the responsibility that comes with living in the real world vs. a perpetual state of virtual reality. As most of you know, I’m a big fan of social media.
I’m going to tell you the cold hard truth about social media…what you need to know that most people won’t tell you. While anyone can have a social media presence, not everyone possesses social media influence. It’s clear to those in the know that social media is a universe of the haves and have nots.
I am happy to add a month’s worth of my coaching to your prize package if you wish to add that. I've seen him work with other leaders and provide training that not only equips us to coach and lead others – but to also help our own selves grow. but you’ll not find that here. but you’ll not find that here.
Nary a week passes where I don’t hear from a CEO who’s grappling with this social media conundrum: should I, or shouldn’t I? In today’s post I’ll share my thoughts on why it’s time to put a fork in the social media debate… Background/Disclaimer. The Truth (as I see it).
I can say this with confidence, because my decision to jump into Social Media headfirst back in 2005 has played an important role in my personal development as a leader -nearly as important as the direct leadership experience itself. Here are 9 ways Social Media has helped me, and can help you too: 1.
The fuel for toxicity is conflict not resolution, ego not humility, self-interest not service above self, gossip & innuendo not truth, social & corporate climbing not team-building, and the list could go on. Real leaders will quickly coach toxic team members to a healthy place, or show them the door - there is no third option.
In fact, I hold Marshall in such high professional regard that he is one of only three other coaches that I’ll refer people to if I’m unable to meet their needs. My business has 3 primary aspects: I write, speak and coach. I help people understand this and act upon it.
They would take the position that gossip is just part of human nature, and that gossip will always exist in any type of environment where social dynamics are present. The old saying “it is what it is” is only true until you decide to make a difference. I Think Not. mikemyatt: RT thx @ArtieDavis @MarkOOakes @words4warrio.

What we’re experiencing today is too much form over substance – leaders lacking in foundation, but replete with social/political savvy. Hustle : I learned this lesson at an early age…I had a basketball coach take me aside after I finished far ahead of the pack after a long set of down-and-backs.
Often I find my executive coaching clients shy away from confidence because they fear that it equates to arrogance – and, understandably, don't want to be seen in that way! Ramzi I think arrogance is a sign of lack of self esteem. Bottom-Line… [link] Dr Sarah Morris Great post! I Think Not.
By that I mean practice areas that serve no real purpose other than to generate a revenue stream for a coach or consultant, or justify headcount within a department. Some may need a podding and support before they take off into the level that inside them, and that is where great coaches like you come in! Thanks for stopping by Sami.
Between 2006 and 2010, CEO Wilkerson, then a journalist and researcher, spent a great deal of time using motorcycles ( Boda bodas ) for quick and flexible transport. So in 2010, Wilkerson launched Own Your Own Boda, a for-profit enterprise to put these riders on a path toward owning their motorcycles.

Context, fluidity, and other nuanced behaviors are positive traits to embrace so long as they don’t serve as an excuse for a lack of discipline. link] mikemyatt Bravo…well said Sir.

Especially from a leadership coaching standpoint. However, humility can also effectively (and less painfully) be learned through coaching and mentoring. Often it has been seen in many places I have worked that so called leaders (not all though) don't show humility in their work, and doesn't respect the members in the team.

I’m a huge believer in the use social media and social networking to further brand exposure. That said, I have little use for social networking junkies who collect friends/followers/contacts just for the sake of watching the numbers go up, while adding little or no value to their network. link] deborah nixon Mike.

Next was Charlene Li who spoke about two of my favorite topics – social media and leadership. She made a compelling case for leaders to adopt social media and gave numerous illustrations as to the many benefits for doing so. Social and societal stigmas are definitely in play when it comes to love and leadership. It’s as if it has been socialized out of them over time. In today's world our first contact with people is often through social media. What you say and how you say it via the social media apps is just as critical as your physical appearance at the first meeting. While they shouldn’t, the reality is that they most certainly do. Well done, Mike. Keep them coming.
While conflict is a normal part of any social and organizational setting, the challenge of conflict lies in how one chooses to deal with it. This is such a common problem for executives that I coach. Love your articel and the suggestions within it.

Has your business embraced social media? Does anyone on your executive team have a coach or mentor? While much has been written about corporate vision, mission, process, leadership, strategy, branding and a variety of other business practices, it is the engineering of these practices to be disruptive that maximizes opportunities.
